Ukraine: Over 10 years, the number of crushing capacities for oilseeds increased
According to the information from specialists, at the end of 2017, the number of crushing capacities for oilseeds is estimated at 21.5 million tons. This number of capacities is sufficient for crushing all the harvested crops such as soybean, rape and sunflower.
Such information was provided by UkrAgroConsult.
The report also says that since 1998 and to date the number of crushing capacities for oilseeds has grown 8 times. At that time, the number of capacities was at the level of 2.5 million tons.
To date, the capacity for processing soybean is 4 million tons per year, and for rapeseed is about 2 million tons per year. However, now these crops are being actively exported, so these capacities are used only by 20%.
After the Ukraine gained independence, 60 new plants were built as well as modernization and reconstruction of existing plants was carried out. During all these years, more than 3 billion dollars have been invested in the oil crushing industry.
In addition, the infrastructure in ports also does not stand still. 16 terminals were built in 6 seaports of Ukraine, since 90% of the oil is exported by sea.
Over the past 10 years, Ukraine has been actively developing processing capacities for oilseeds. According to statistics, the number of processing capacities has grown significantly and today is at a fairly high level.
At the same time, most of the production falls on sunflower oil, which is one of the main export products of Ukraine. In addition, the development of processing capacities allows the most efficient use of production resources and the creation of new jobs.
Thus, the development of processing capacities for oilseeds in Ukraine is an important direction in the development of the industry. It contributes to the increase in the production of vegetable oil and its export, as well as the creation of new jobs and the most efficient use of production resources.
