Niumag NMR Body Composition Analyzer
Niumag QMR06-090H NMR Body Composition Analyzer for Laboratory Animals
Niumag QMR06-090H is a specialized low-field NMR analyzer designed for rapid determination of fat mass and lean body mass in mice, rats, and other small laboratory animals. The system enables in vivo studies without euthanasia, making it an efficient solution for long-term research and monitoring changes in body composition over time.
What is an NMR Body Composition Analyzer?
The Niumag QMR06-090H operates using QMR (Quantitative Magnetic Resonance) technology based on the principles of low-field Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR).
The method measures signals from hydrogen nuclei naturally present in body tissues. Since fat and lean tissues exhibit different magnetic properties, the analyzer automatically distinguishes between them and calculates their quantitative proportions.
A complete measurement takes approximately 2 minutes and requires no special animal preparation, contrast agents, tissue sampling, or invasive procedures. The software automatically processes and stores the results for future comparison.
Because the same animal can be measured repeatedly throughout an experiment, researchers can accurately monitor body composition changes over time while reducing the number of animals required for scientific studies.
The analyzer can also be equipped with an MR imaging module for visualization of fat tissue distribution.
