Ukraine: In seaports the cost of corn increased

The first half of January was marked by an increase in the cost of corn in seaports. If at the end of last year the price of corn was 150 dollars per ton, then from the beginning of January this year, the price of corn reached a level of 156 dollars per ton.

Such information was given by Agritel analysts.

The report says that the price on the site can reach 158 and 160 dollars per ton. The basis is 20 dollars per ton, which is the highest one since October 2016, when there were serious logistics problems in the country. Analysts believe that this indicator of the basis stimulates the increase in purchases.

In addition, wheat with protein content of 11.5% and corn are now sold almost at the same price. Since October, the difference in price for these two types of cereals has been reduced from 26 dollars per ton to 15 dollars per ton.

Active export of corn continues in Ukraine. However, according to the latest data, the cost of this grain crop has increased significantly in seaports. This can lead to a decrease in the competitiveness of Ukrainian corn on the world market.

The corn market in Ukraine has high potential, but further price growth may make it difficult to sell products abroad. At the same time, Ukraine continues to maintain a leading position in the world export of corn and successfully competes with other large producers of grain crops.
