Ukraine: Half a million tons of wheat were exported to India
According to the results of the first half of the current marketing year, India took 8th place in the list of importing countries of wheat from Ukraine. At the same time, the volume of exports to this country amounted to half a million tons of wheat, which is 20% of the estimated amount of this country import for the entire season.
Such information was provided by APK-Inform.
Also, analysts say that according to statistics from the USDA, in the current marketing year, India imports only 2.5 million tons of wheat, which is 2.4 times lower than in the previous marketing year. The last year’s indicator amounted to 5.9 million tons. This trend is due to increases in wheat production within the country by 13%, and in addition to an increase in the import tax, which will reach 20%.
It should be recalled that according to the results of the previous marketing year, India was the leader in import of wheat from Ukraine. The volume of exports to this country was 2.9 million tons, which was almost 50% of the total volume of imports of this country.
Taking into account all abovementioned, analysts believe that the second half of the marketing year will be marked by a reduction in supplies to this country. And a decrease in demand from the main importer, in turn, will lead to changes in the price.
It should be recalled that during the first six months of the current marketing year, 11.27 million tons of wheat were exported from Ukraine, which is 74 thousand tons less than the similar indicator of the past year.
