Ukraine: In 2020, grain took 12% of the total volume of goods transported by rail

Summing up the results of 2020, the railway of Ukraine transported more than 35 million tons of grain cargo, which is 13% less than in 2019.

In total, during the previous year, about 305 million tons of cargo were transported by rail, which is 2.3% less than in 2019.

According to the volume of railway transportation, grain products took the 4th place, which is 11.5%.

The positive dynamics of railway transportation last year was only for iron ore raw materials (iron ore) and building materials.

Grain transportation played a significant role in railway freight in Ukraine in 2020. It accounted for 12% of the total volume of railway transportation, highlighting the importance of the grain sector for the country’s economy.

Grain quality control begins with sampling, but it is no less important to unload the grain from the transport quickly and without queues. During the harvest season, time is precious. And this is where truck unloaders play a key role.

Grain transportation in Ukraine has a huge volume: back in 2020, grain accounted for 12% of all cargo transported by rail (source: pis.com.ua). But before getting to the railway station or to the storage facility, the grain is often delivered by trucks – sometimes 100 or more trucks per day.
