Ukraine: Forecast for grain harvest 2018

During the current year, Ukrainian agrarians plan to produce 60 million tons of grain crops. This figure is almost the same as last year.

Such information was provided by the portal «APK-Inform».

According to experts, harvest figures of this level will have a beneficial effect on the country’s economy as a whole, ensuring food security, as well as a high level of exports, but agrarians should beware of the railway collapse.

Also, the message says that in the next export season the railway may not cope with export volumes at all and the deliveries of harvested crops to foreign markets will simply be disrupted.

The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy still believes that the amount of harvest should be expected at the level of the previous year, while the volume of export supplies is projected at the level of 45 million tons. However, according to the opinion of other representatives of the agricultural sector, a yield growth by 2-4 million tons is still possible.

According to analysts, Ukraine expects a good grain harvest for the current year. Experts predict that production volumes will be higher than last year. This season, favorable weather conditions and an increase in acreage contribute to an increase in yields.

Last year, despite the pandemic and other adverse factors, Ukraine was still able to produce enough grain to meet the needs of the domestic market and exports. But this time, according to forecasts, the grain harvest may be even higher, which will positively affect the country’s economy and the agricultural sector.
