UKRAINE: Approximately 80% of the wheat stipulated by the Grain Memorandum was exported from Ukraine

As of 10.03.21, grain exports of Ukrainian production amounted to 32.89 from the beginning of the 20/21 season. The volume of supplies decreased by almost 22% compared to the previous year (about 42 million tons).

The shipment of wheat accounted for more than 79% of the maximum volume of export of crops from the country, prescribed in the Grain Memorandum (17.5 million tons), the shipment of corn accounted for 60.4%.

The export volumes of different crops:

Wheat – 13.8 million tons, which is almost 3 million tons or 18% less than 19/20 marketing year;

Barley – almost 4 million tons, which is 72 thousand tons or 1.8% less than in the previous season;

Rye – 1.7 thousand tons, which is 3.3 thousand or 66% less;

Corn – 14.53 million tons, which is 6 million tons or 30% less.

According to the grain memorandum, it was planned to leave up to 17 million tons of grain in Ukraine this year, however, in fact, about 80% of the stipulated wheat export quota has already been exported. Grain export is one of the key items of income for Ukraine, so the department is trying to control the volume of exports. However, despite the restrictions, many grain companies continue to export grain and circumvent quotas.
