
Ukraine: Cargo transhipment in Ukrainian seaports amounted to 133 million tons in 2017
During the entire 2017, the dynamics of the cargo turnover in the seaports remained positive. During the period from January to December almost 133 million tons of cargo were transhipped, which exceeds the same figure of the previous year by 0.9%.
Such data was provided by the Administration of the seaports of Ukraine.
Compared with the previous year, transhipment of imported cargo increased by 29.1% and amounted to 20.6 million tons, while export turnover figures are 1.4% lower than last year.
During this period, transhipment of imported chemical and mineral fertilizes increased 6-fold. Last year, this figure was almost 21 thousand tons, while this year it is almost 124 thousand tons.
Cereals took a large share in export cargo transhipments and amounted to 38 million tons. Also, the export of vegetable oils grew by 19.5% compared to the previous year.
The largest cargo turnover was in the South port and amounted to almost 42 million tons, the next one was Odessa port (24 million tons), then Nikolayev port (23.5 million tons) and Chernomorsk (17.6 million tons).
