Ukraine: The sowing of sunflower has begun

As of the beginning of April, sowing of sunflower began in six regions of Ukraine. As of April 1, 54.000 hectares were sown with this crop, which is 1% of the forecast.

In addition, it should be mentioned that the sowing campaign of spring crops is completed by 61%. There are 1.4 million hectares now planted with these crops, of which 102 thousand hectares are under wheat, which is 59% of the forecast and 0.98 million hectares were sown with barley, which is 63% of the forecast.

Such crops as oats and peas were planted on the territory of 89.000 hectares and 217.000 hectares, respectively.

Sunflower sowing has begun in Ukraine as part of the 2023 sowing campaign. It is expected that crop volumes will be at the level of last year, that is, about 15 million tons. This is due to the increase in sowing areas and the use of new growing technologies.
