Ukraine: Export potential of Ukraine for the second half of the marketing year

During the first part of the current marketing year, about 11.5 million tons of wheat were exported from Ukraine. This figure is about 60% of all possible exports in the current season, and of course this will have a direct impact on the export activity of the country for that part of the export season that has remained.

Such data was provided by APK-Inform.

Experts believe that Ukraine’s position in the second part of this export season will be uncompetitive, if compared with the rest of the grain suppliers. The amount that can still be shipped this season is 5-6 million tons, of which 1 million will be sent to the EU countries.

Also, experts note that such a volume of wheat is two times less than it should be. And it should be noted also that the similar situation took place during the last marketing year – a strong deficit of this crop took place in May and June.

Ukraine continues to hold its positions in the world markets, having a significant export potential for the rest of the marketing year. The largest crops that are in demand on world markets are cereals, oilseeds and legumes. Exports of grain crops such as wheat, barley, corn, rice and others make up a significant share in Ukraine’s total exports.

In addition, Ukraine is the largest exporter of sunflower seeds and rapeseed, as well as one of the largest exporters of sunflower oil and rapeseed oil. In addition, Ukraine exports significant amounts of legumes such as peas, soybeans and lentils.

In general, Ukraine has a wide export potential in world markets and continues to expand its range of exported products. However, in order to maximize the use of its export opportunities, Ukraine must continue to work on improving the quality of its products, improving infrastructure and strengthening its position in world markets.
