Ukraine: Export of agricultural products to the EU grew
During the 11 months of 2017, the agricultural products supply to the European Union countries increased by 38.2%, or in monetary terms by 1.4 billion dollars. Thus, the total amount of deliveries to the EU countries is 5.2 billion dollars.
Such data was provided by Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
It should be noted that the total turnover with the countries of the European Union increased by just over 31% during the 11 months of 2017, or by 1.7 billion dollars in monetary terms. Thus, the total turnover with the EU countries amounted to 7.2 billion dollars.
The report says that such figures perfectly illustrate the results of signing a treaty on a free trade zone, because now we can observe all the advantages of this solution in practice, not only described on paper. Also, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expressed their hope for the continuation of this trend and, in addition, stressed the urgent need for active work on bringing the Ukrainian legislative system closer to European standards.
Also, the report noted that the export of agricultural products in 2016 to the EU countries amounted to 4.2 billion dollars.
It should be recalled that the total export volumes of 2017 amounted to 16 billion dollars.
Cereals such as wheat, corn and barley account for the largest share of agricultural exports to the EU. An important role is also played by the export of flour and grain processing products, including mixes for baking.
In addition to grain, Ukraine actively exports sunflower oil to Europe. In addition, the country’s agricultural producers supply many other types of products to the international market, such as oilseeds, sugar, vegetables, fruits and berries, dairy products and meat.
In turn, the government of Ukraine seeks to improve programs to support the development of the agricultural sector, including by increasing capital investments and improving state support mechanisms.
