
Ukraine: 2017/18 MY. Export of flour
According to data as of February 14, 2018, 287.6 thousand tons of flour were exported from Ukraine, while last year it was possible to export 52.3 thousand tons less during the same period.
This was reported by representative of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.
Analytical data show that the export of flour from wheat during the specified period amounted to 286.7 thousand tons, while exports volumes of flour from other types of grain reached a level of 0.9 thousand tons.
It should be recalled that in 2017, Ukraine produced 1.94 million tons of flour, while the figure of 2016 were 2% higher.
In 2017-2018 MY, Ukraine increased the export of flour by 30% compared to the previous period. The total volume of exports amounted to more than 167 thousand tons. Such an increase in exports is associated with an increase in flour production in Ukraine, as well as with an increase in demand for Ukrainian flour from foreign partners.
The main markets for Ukrainian flour are the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Europe. In particular, Israel is the largest consumer of Ukrainian flour, its share in the import of Ukrainian flour was more than 25%. Also, a significant share in exports is occupied by the countries of the Sahel zone of Africa, as well as Lebanon, Jordan and Turkey.
The growing export of flour indicates a stable growth of the Ukrainian economy and an increase in the competitiveness of products on world markets. In addition, the increase in flour production contributes to the development of the industry and the creation of new jobs in Ukraine.
