Russia: The Ministry of Agriculture is working to improve the quality of produced wheat
As of November 25, 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation introduced a list of additional measures, which may help to increase the quantity and improve the quality of wheat in the country:
– follow the technologies for growing grain;
– new storage rules (mixing of different wheat classes are not allowed);
– grain processing, which may help to achieve the quality indicators (drying, ventilation).
This year, in several regions of Russian Federation the amount of harvested wheat of 1-3 grade reached 2.7 million tons, which is enough for processing and food purposes.
According to the assessment of the Russian Agricultural Center, this year 90% of the sowing wheat were varieties of domestic selection, in 2019 and 2020 this number was 82%.
It must be kept in mind that in order to obtain a high yield of high-grade wheat, it is necessary:
– to use high quality seed material,
– to fight diseases and pests,
– to use chemical agents for plant protection rationally and reasonably.
