Russia: Import of soybeans during the first half of the current MY reached the maximum

During the period from September to February 18/19 MY, Russia imported 1.1 million tons of soybeans, which is the absolute maximum and is 23% more than it was imported last season. In addition, this figure also exceeds the previous record of 16/17 MY by 22%.

During the reporting period, imports from such countries as Brazil, Uruguay and Romania increased dramatically. Thus, the import volumes from the abovementioned countries amounted to 0.56 million tons, 0.35 million tons and 58 thousand tons, respectively.

Taking into account the information received, analysts’ forecast for import volumes remains at the same level, namely, 2.1 million tons, which is a record high figure.
