
Kazakhstan: The reserves of oilseeds in Kazakhstan exceed last year’s figures
As of January 1, 2018, in the Kostanay region, the amount of oilseeds reached 209576.9 tons, which is 18% more than in the previous year.
Such data was provided by the State Department of Statistics.
The amount of flax seeds in the region reached a level of 125696.2 tons, while the amount of sunflower was 56028.5 tons. Also in the region there are stocks of rapeseed, safflower, mustard, soybean and camelina. Their quantity at the beginning of the current year amounted to 13.916,3 tons, 6902.2 tons, 5337.1 tons, 1385 tons and 311.1 tons, respectively.
It should be also recalled that according to earlier information, the amount of sown areas in 2017 was increased by 1.1% compared to 2016 and amounted to 5197.1 thousand hectares.
The largest amount of areas was allocated for grain and leguminous crops, namely 4192.8 thousand hectares, which in percentage terms is 80.7% of the total number of areas.
351.3 thousand hectares were allocated for oil crops, which is 6.7% of the total acreage.
Stocks of oilseeds in Kazakhstan continue to grow, which indicates an increase in production and an increase in demand for oilseeds. In the Kostanay region, the stocks of oilseeds exceeded last year’s figures. This indicates that Kazakhstan is increasing the production of oilseeds and continues to hold positions in the global oil market.
