Kazakhstan: Due to unfavorable weather conditions, grain harvesting is delayed
During the last 24 hours, only 15.3 thousand hectares were processed in Kazakhstan, which is 0.1%. The main reason for this inefficient operation is precipitation in the form of rain, which then turns into snow.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, as of October 18, 2.18 million tons of grain crops were harvested in Kazakhstan. The number of harvested areas reached 98.9%.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the harvesting process is inhibited in Akmola and North Kazakhstan region. On October 19, meteorologists also forecast rain and snow.
According to preliminary data, 5.48 million tons of grain were harvested in the Akmola region, and 98.4% of the area was processed. This figure exceeds last year’s harvest by 355 thousand tons.
In the North Kazakhstan region, only 1.2% of the area left to finish the harvest, and the amount of harvested grain was 4.98 million tons.
Grain harvesting in Kazakhstan is being delayed due to unstable weather, which could lead to lower yields. At the beginning of the harvesting campaign, large grain companies reported high yields, but unstable weather conditions, including rain and hail, proved to be a significant obstacle to the continuation of the harvest.
Despite this, large grain companies continue to work in the fields and hope for better weather. It is important to note that Kazakhstan is one of the largest grain exporters in the world, so the grain yield in this country has a significant impact on the world grain market.
In turn, the government of Kazakhstan continues to work to increase productivity in the agricultural sector and supports the introduction of new technologies, such as DTN weather services, to improve the efficiency of agricultural production.
Thus, despite the unstable weather, grain companies and the government of Kazakhstan continue to work to increase grain yields and increase productivity in the agricultural sector.
