Kazakhstan: In northern Kazakhstan the problem of the lack of local varieties of wheat is faced

This is a problem for all producers of agricultural products in Kazakhstan, since all available varieties have long been outdated. For example, the variety of wheat «Astana 2» is more than 10 years old. After that the selection was no longer carried out. In addition, the problem is further aggravated by the fact that there are very few qualified experts in the field of selection.

To solve this problem, it is proposed to import foreign wheat varieties and to adapt them to a specific locality. If the result is positive, then the seeds will be propagated and distributed among the farmers.

The fundamental factor for obtaining a good yield is a constant renewal of the seed material and the use of elite seed varieties.

Therefore, in the future, the above mentioned methods should be applied to increase yields.
