Kazakhstan: In the Kostanay region, there is a change in the structure of areas under crops

In 2018, the representatives of the regions provided a plan for the reorganization of sown areas, which in general coincides with the structure provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In 2018, in the Kostanay region, the amount of sown areas allocated for crops will be 5.23 million hectares, which exceeds the figures that were prescribed by the Ministry of Agriculture by 62.5 thousand hectares.

The total amount allocated for the grain crops was 3.98 million hectares. The amount allocated for wheat was 3.48 million hectares. Also, in the structure of crops, the amount of barley was increased by 32 thousand hectares, and reached a level of 337 thousand hectares. In addition, according to the plan, in the current year areas for buckwheat crops will increase by 1.4 thousand hectares. The area for oilseeds will be 0.44 million hectares. The amount of areas under fodder crops will amount to 0.78 million hectares.

However, in some regions, sown areas are still not diversified in accordance with the regulations of the Ministry of Agriculture. Therefore, the main task of the head of each region is to ensure the sowing of priority crops at a level no lower than prescribed by the Ministry of Agriculture.

In the Kostanay region of Kazakhstan, it is planned to change the structure of sown areas. According to representatives of the local administration, the main goal is to increase the share of fodder crops in the total crop structure.

According to plans, in the coming years, the area under fodder crops should increase by 20-25%. This decision is due to the fact that in recent years the region has begun to face the problem of a shortage of feed for livestock.

At the same time, a decrease in grain crops may lead to a decrease in grain production. However, agricultural producers in the region are sure that the increase in forage crops will allow them to increase the number of livestock and improve the quality of meat and milk.

In addition, new crops will allow more efficient use of agricultural land and increase the income of agricultural producers.

This decision of the Kostanay administration will improve the economic situation of the region and provide its residents with the necessary food. Follow the news of the agricultural sector at PIS.COM.UA!
