Kazakhstan: The agrarians of Kazakhstan do not have money to prepare for the sowing season

For today, agrarians in Kazakhstan are lagging behind the schedule in getting ready for the sowing season – according to experts, the gap is 1.5 months.

Despite the fact that there are more than enough grain in grain stores, Kazakh farmers still do not have money to prepare for sowing. According to the producers, they do not want to sell the grain, as the price on the market is too low, and selling the grain at such a price will not be enough to cover the costs of last year’s sowing.

The Union of farmers asked the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan for help. And finally the government decided to help the producers. Starting from next year, the government will buy 2 million tons of wheat at a price higher by 5-6 thousand tons tenge per ton than it is offered on the market (reference: the price on the market is 36-37 thousand tenge). This additional amount of money should be enough to pay off creditors, as well as pay salaries to employees.
Use of cheaper and more available seeds. For example, farmers can use seeds from last year’s harvest, which will allow them to reduce the cost of purchasing new seeds.
Efficient use of mineral fertilizers. Experts advise farmers to conduct a soil analysis to know exactly what mineral fertilizers are needed to increase yields. The use of unsuitable fertilizers can lead to crop loss and additional costs.
Appeal for help to state programs to support farmers. There are a number of programs in Kazakhstan that can provide farmers with financial support, as well as subsidies for the purchase of seeds and fertilizers.
Partnership with other farmers and companies. The joint purchase of materials and equipment can significantly reduce the costs of each farmer.
Thus, the lack of funds to prepare for the sowing campaign is not an insoluble problem. Farmers in Kazakhstan can use best practices and advice from experts to deal with this challenge.
