Kazakhstan: Changes in agricultural sector of Kostanay region

Summing up the difficult 2020 year, Kostanay region completed it with positive results:

1. Volumes of agricultural products increased by almost 21%. In 2020, the amount of sown land reached 5.3 million hectares, among which 4.1 million hectares were allocated for cereals and legumes (3.4 million hectares were sown with wheat only). In total, grain harvest reached 4.1 million tons.
2. In 2020, this region took the leading position among other regions of the Republic of Kazakhstan in flour production (1 million tons), second place in milk production (77.000 tons), third place in butter production (4,000 tons).
3. Kostanay region took a leading position in export volumes of processed agricultural products. During the previous year, the amount of exported grain reached 1.000.000 tons, export volumes of flour accounted to 800.000 tons of flour. The export volumes of vegetable oil reached 10.000 tons, export volumes of diary reached 8.000 tons, about 170 tons of meat and 50,000,000 eggs were exported.
4. The number of head of livestock increased. The amount of produced meat is 6% more than in 2019, and the amount of produced milk increased by 2%.
5. A number of improvements were made at the Komsomolskaya poultry farm, as a result of which the capacity was 20 thousand tons of poultry meat per year. They opened two large dairy farms for 180 heads each, and expanded the existing farm near Kostanay to 740 heads.
6. In 2020, 9 investment projects (about 8 million tenge) in the agro-industrial complex were implemented in the region.
