Kazakhstan: Spring sowing campaign is completed

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported on its website that as of 10.06.2020, spring sowing campaign in Kazakhstan was finished.

According to the results of the spring sowing campaign, the sown area reached 19.128 million hectares, which is 100% of the planned territory.

They also reached the target indicator for the spring grain crops, namely 14.537 million hectares, 158.8 thousand hectares were sown with corn and 102.9 thousand hectares were sown with rice.

Oilseeds were planted on the territory of 3 million hectares and sugar beets were planted on the territory of 20.5 thousand hectares.

Kazakhstan has successfully completed the spring sowing campaign, and agricultural enterprises are ready for the harvest of grain crops, vegetables and potatoes. In general, more than 15 million hectares of grain crops were sown throughout the country, which is 200 thousand hectares more than last year. At the same time, the increase in the total area under crops was accompanied by a decrease in the number of corn and sugar beet crops.

The largest number of sowings was carried out in the Kostanay region, where about 3.5 million hectares of grain crops were sown. At the same time, due to difficulties with weather conditions, the area under grain crops was reduced in some regions. Despite this, Kazakh farmers expect a good harvest, which will satisfy the country’s needs for food and even start exporting them abroad.
