Kazakhstan: The amount of barley exported in 2017/18 MY increased almost twofold

Since there is usually an insufficient amount of barley at the end of the season, the volume of exports in May decreased significantly.

According to the information received from the Customs Control, barley exports during the month have reached 61,000 tons. The main importer of this culture from Kazakhstan was Iran (the share of imports was 94%).

However, within 11 months (from July to May), the volume of exports of this crop amounted to 1.3 million tons, which became the historical maximum for Kazakhstan. In addition, this indicator is almost double the volume of exports during the past marketing year.

It should also be added that the amount of harvest collected in 2017 also became a historic high.

So, during the year of 2017, 3.3 million tons of barley were harvested, which exceeded the indicator of 2016 by 2.3%. The yield of this crop was 1.6 t / ha.
