KAZAKHSTAN: The volume of grain harvest this year has decreased significantly
This year Kazakhstan produced one and a half million tons of grain, which is less (- 9%) than in 2020. Barley production has fallen by more than 800,000 tonnes compared to the previous year, and wheat by 0.6 million tonnes. Heat and lack of moisture during the growing season had a negative impact on the grain harvest. The country will buy the missing volume of wheat from Russia. Prices for this crop are lower and there are no export duties for Kazakhstan.
Experts are forecasting an increase in the import of wheat into the country by half a million tons. Wheat and flour prices for the previous two months increased by 30% compared to August prices.
