Kazakhstan: As of the end of May, spring sowing campaign is completed by 90%

As of May 31, slightly more than 13 million hectares were sown with spring grain crops, which is nearly 92% of the planned territory. In total, this year it is planned to sow 14.24 million hectares.

In the Akmola region, spring crops were sown on an area of 3.96 million hectares, which is 92% of the planned area. The sowing campaign in Kostanay and North Kazakhstan region was completed by 89.7% and 89.6%, respectively. Spring crops were sowed on 3.58 million hectares and 2.47 million hectares in these regions.

In addition, sowing of corn and rice was completed by 97.2% (147.4 thousand hectares) and 97.4% (98.8 thousand hectares), respectively.

Also, oilseeds were sown on 2.58 million hectares, which is 94.8% of the planned area.

The sowing campaign of spring crops in Kazakhstan is 90% complete as of the end of May. The total area of sown land was more than last year’s level, which indicates good prospects for the harvest. The yield of spring crops is a key factor in the export of grain, and its successful growth can positively affect the country’s economy.
