Kazakhstan: Due to unfavorable weather conditions, crops die

Given the fact of the absence of precipitation in the West Kazakhstan region during the last two months, the probability of death or significant damage to the grain yield is high.

Local agricultural producers say that at the first sight the fields look green and globrous, but in fact, the lack of rainfall has led to drought in the fields and to the underdevelopment of the grain.

Thanks to good spring weather, as well as the favorable beginning of summer, winter rye grew well, but due to lack of precipitation, the grain is badly damaged. In some farms the yield of this crop is 6-7 centners per hectare. The heat also affected the yield of spring wheat poorly.

Agrarians say that in some areas the grain is almost burnt and, at best, it will be possible to harvest 2 or 3 centners per hectare. In addition, even without laboratory analysis, experienced experts say that such grain will only go for forage.

Due to unfavorable weather conditions in Kazakhstan, harvesting volumes are reduced, which may lead to a deterioration in the economic situation in the country’s agriculture. In addition, an increase in the cost of food products in the domestic market may adversely affect the budgets of families and the population as a whole. The authorities of Kazakhstan are taking measures to support agriculture, but adverse weather has a strong impact on the production and export of agricultural products.
