Ukraine: The harvesting has already begun
As of June 12, some southern regions of Ukraine have already started harvesting the first early grain crops.
Such information was provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.
The report says that from an area of slightly more than 5000 hectares it was managed to collect 14.700 t of grain. The average yield is estimated at 2.91 tons per hectare.
This year was marked by an earlier start of the harvesting campaign, in comparison with previous years. It is still not possible to make forecasts on yields, but, given the current state of crops and the almost perfect wintering, the forecast at 60 million tons or more remains.
In three regions of Ukraine, the collection of winter barley was started, namely in the Kherson region, Odessa and Mykolaiv regions. In these regions, 6.300 t were harvested, 3.800 t and 4.600 t respectively. The area of harvesting in these regions was 2.300 hectares, 1000 hectares and 1.800 hectares.
In addition, the first 300 tons of peas were harvested in the Mykolaiv region.
It should be recalled that 9.6 million hectares were allocated for early crops this year.
One of the key stages after harvesting is proper grain drying. It is not enough to simply remove the grain from the field – it is important to ensure its stable storage and prevent spoilage. Increased moisture in the grain can lead to mold development, self-heating, reduced quality and even complete loss of products. This is why modern agricultural enterprises are increasingly investing in high-tech grain dryers that can ensure fast and uniform drying even with high crop volumes. Industrial grain dryers, such as equipment from Perry, allow you to precisely control the temperature regime and preserve the nutritional value of the grain.
