
Kazakhstan: Indicators of grain shipment for five months
The statistics says that in 2017, 8.900.000 t of grain were shipped, which is 4% more than the figures of shipments in 2016. Of this amount, 5.800.000 t were shipped for export, while the remaining 3.100.000 t were shipped for transportation within the country.
During the period from January to May inclusive, 4.800.000 t of grain were shipped, which exceeds the indicator of the previous year by 47% over the same period.
Geography of grain exports from Kazakhstan is as follows: 33% of total exports is shipped to Central Asia, and 43% of the total exports is shipped to Iran and Afghanistan. Also, significant amount of grain is supplied to the PRC and the Russian Federation, namely 7% and 10% respectively.
The country’s largest freight operator, in cooperation with KTZ, is working to prepare a fleet of railway cars for the future marketing season.
