Kazakhstan: The sowing process in Kazakhstan is slower than it was in the previous year

As of May 15, in Kazakhstan spring crops are already sown on the territory of 706.000 ha, which is 5% of the total area allocated for the crops. It should be recalled that this year, 14 million hectares are allocated for sowing cereal crops.

It should be noted that last year, as of the indicated date, the sown areas amounted to 5.4% of the total area allocated for crops.

To date, sowing works have been completed in such areas as Almaty, Zhambyl and South-Kazakhstan.

However, today the sowing works begin in the three main northern grain areas of Kazakhstan.

As of May 15, sowing of oilseeds was carried out on an area of 251 thousand hectares, which is 18.6% of the total number of areas allocated for this crop. After crops are harvested, ensuring proper drying is a crucial step in preserving both the quantity and quality of the yield. Moisture remaining in harvested grain encourages the development of mold, fungi, and even mycotoxins. Drying to the appropriate moisture level reduces risk of spoilage, ensuring that the grain remains safe for human and animal consumption.
