Ukraine: The yield of winter crops can reduce
One of the main reasons for which the decrease in the yield of winter crops is predicted is the late period of vegetation renewal.
Such information was provided by APK-Inform.
The report says that if the temperature rises sharply, we can expect a rapid drying out of the upper layers of the soil, and the efficiency of fertilizers under such weather conditions decreases. All these factors together can lead to a decrease in yields.
However, the review also says that this is not the final verdict, since it is also necessary to take into account the fact that the condition of winter crops is estimated as good, and under mild temperature conditions, as well as sufficient soil fertilization this year, there is a chance of obtaining a yield that maybe will not exceed the average values, but still will not be less.
It should be recalled that during the first two months of this year, 1.9 million tons of wheat were exported from Ukraine. The cost of export supplies amounted to 323 million dollars.
There are concerns about the possible decrease in winter crop yields in Ukraine. Adverse weather conditions, drought, plant diseases, and other factors can have a negative impact on the harvest.
The yield of winter crops is of great importance for ensuring food security and the country’s economy. Decreased yields can lead to a reduction in the production of food, feed, and other commodities, as well as negatively affect the income of agricultural producers.
It is important to take measures to mitigate risks and minimize losses in agriculture. Forecasting and monitoring weather conditions, implementing modern agricultural techniques, protecting plants from diseases and pests – all of these are crucial steps to maintain the yield of winter crops and promote sustainable development in Ukrainian agriculture.
