Kazakhstan: Farmers of Kazakhstan predict a difficult season

Kazakhstan’s agrarians say that this year it is not possible to achieve some records, since the amount of precipitation in winter was extremely small, hence the moisture reserve in the soil is low, which in turn can lead to drought.

The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has not yet announced any forecasts. This tendency is typical for this region, as it is located in the zone of risky farming. Forecasts about the harvest from the Ministry can be expected no earlier than in the middle of summer.

According to the agrarians, the harvest of wheat this year will be from 13 to 14.5 million tons.

Kazakhstan has already started preparations for spring field work. According to preliminary information, the area allocated for crops in 2018 will amount to more than 21.8 million hectares. And 14.7 million hectares were allocated for cereals, and for wheat – 11.4 million hectares, which is 544 thousand hectares less than last year.

Kazakh farmers are gearing up for a tough season that could see problems with harvests and the supply of agricultural products. Despite adverse weather conditions, farmers are preparing for the season with optimism and doing their best to ensure a quality harvest.

In turn, analysts predict a difficult year for farmers. Some factors, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in agricultural prices, may affect the supply and consumption of agricultural products. However, it is important to note that the farmers of Kazakhstan have great potential and experience that will allow them to overcome difficulties and achieve success this season.

It is important to understand that agriculture is a key sector of the economy of Kazakhstan, and the harvest plays an important role in the export of products. Therefore, forecasts for the harvest and supply of agricultural products are important for the whole country.
