Ukraine: The export of beans increased by 64%

Legumes export figures amounted to 193 million dollars, which is 64% more than the figure of the previous year.

Such information was provided by FAO representatives.

In addition, experts claim that exports figures of legumes are 42% higher than those of dairy products. It was the year 2017 that marked the entrance of legumes to the top ten agricultural products that are exported. For Ukraine, the supply of legumes for export is more cost-effective that the export of such products as honey, milk, nuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, flour and so on.

It should be recalled that the forecast for soybean processing in the current MY is 1.3 million tons, which is 16% higher than in the previous marketing year.

Last year, Ukraine continued to increase the export of legumes, showing an increase of 64% compared to the previous year. The main export items are peas, beans, lentils and other legumes. The yield of these crops remained stable, which allowed to increase export volumes and increase profits every year. Industry representatives note that legumes are increasingly being used in both the food and feed industries. This is because legumes are a source of protein and also contain important micronutrients needed for a healthy diet. Due to the growing demand for these products in the world markets, the export of legumes from Ukraine continues to show stable growth.
