Kazakhstan: In the north of Kazakhstan the grain yield has grown

In 2017, agricultural producers in the North-Kazakhstan region managed to harvest 5.037 million tons of grain crops.

According to the statistical service of the region, the amount of harvested wheat reached a level of 3.67 million tons, and the amount of oilseeds was 0.7 million tons.

In comparison with the previous year, in 2017 the yield was 16.3 centners per hectare, which is 3.8% more than last year. The yield of wheat increased by 12.5% and amounted to 16.7 centners per hectare, and the yield of oilseeds increased by 1.1% and amounted to 9.8 centners per hectare.

Every year, the usage of mineral fertilizers is increasing. So, in 2016 the fertilized area amounted to 716 thousand hectares, which is 50.4% more than the figure of the past year. 96% of these areas were allocated for grain crops.

Grain yields in northern Kazakhstan have increased as a result of favorable weather conditions and the use of new growing technologies. In the northern regions of Kazakhstan, the most common crops are wheat, barley and oats, as well as leguminous plants.
