Ukraine: Indicators of pea export beat records

Only six months have passed since the beginning of the MY, and the export of peas already beats all the records. During this season 1 million tons of peas were harvested, while the export potential is estimated at about 500.000-600.000 t.

Such data was provided by Grain Trade.

According to the information provided, during the five months of the current MY, the export figures increased by 77% and now the volume of exports is just over 475.000 t, which is already higher than the figure for the entire previous marketing year, which was 467.500 t.

The report also says that since India increased the import duty on peas, this caused a decrease in the purchase price by 30-35 dollars per ton. Earlier the price was 215-225 dollars per ton, whereas now it dropped to 185-190 dollars per ton. Consequently, the export rates also decreased significantly.

November of the current marketing year has traditionally been marked with a decrease in the exports rate, but the indicators are still significantly ahead of the indicators of the past. In November, 22.600 t of peas were put on foreign markets, which is 40% higher than in the previous marketing year.

The main importer of peas is India, and the share of exports of this country is 41%. Within five months of the current marketing year, it was possible to export 16% of this crop to India more than the whole previous year. The exports volume of peas to Turkey increased by 64%, compared to the previous marketing year. To date, the export volumes amounted to 101.000 t.

The countries of the European Union also increased the import of peas from Ukraine. The main consumer now is the Netherlands. During the five months of the current marketing year, to the EU it was sent 69% more than during the whole previous season.
