Ukraine: Forecasts for grain exports in 2017/18 marketing year
The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food expressed its assumptions regarding the export of grain in the current marketing year. According to the first deputy minister, grain exports in this marketing year can reach a level of 41 million tons.
The report also says that the main reason why this forecast may not come true is the growing problems with logistics, given the introduction of new laws on the weight of trucks when transporting grain by roads, as well as the acute shortage of grain hoppers and locomotives.
The deputy minister informs that to date large companies have already begun to purchase their own hoppers, however, it is not yet possible to purchase and use private locomotives. The Deputy Minister asks Ukrzaliznytsia to do its best to improve the railway infrastructure, as well as to consider the possibility of access to the railway for entrepreneurs.
It should be recalled that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted the Export Strategy, which will serve as a guiding light for exporters in the next five years until 2021.
Forecasts for grain exports are very important for Ukraine, as it is one of the largest grain exporters in the world. At the same time, sales volumes are influenced by various factors, such as changes in the exchange rate, weather conditions and other economic factors.
One of the main competitors of Ukraine in the world grain market is Russia. However, experts are confident that Ukraine will be able to maintain its position in the world market due to the high quality of its products and competitive prices.
It is interesting to note that cereals are not the only export product of Ukraine. The country also exports oils, seeds, nuts, honey and more. However, cereals are one of the most important export products of Ukraine, and much of the country’s economy depends on their sales.
In general, Ukrainian grain export forecasts for the 2017-18 marketing year are encouraging, and we hope that Ukraine will be able to maintain its position in the global grain market.
