Ukraine: More than 7 million tons of grain were transhipped in the Odessa port

During the period from January to November, more than 7 million tons of grain were transhipped in the Odessa port. This figure decreased compared to the past year by 6%.

Such data was provided by the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration.

During the period from January to November in this port 16.23 thousand tons of sugar were transhipped, which is 71.4% less than last year. Oil was also transhipped during this period and the oil volume was 85.23 thousand tons, which is 20.4% less than last year.

The report also says that in general, the volume of cargo transhipment in the Odessa port decreased by 5.5% or 21.83 million tons.

It should also be recalled that the volume of transhipment from all the ports of Ukraine amounted to 36 million tons of grain, which is 2.5% more than last year.

The top five seaport leaders in the current year are as follows. The first place took Nikolaevsky port. The amount of 8.29 million tons of grain were transhipped, which exceeds the same figure of the past year by 2%. The second place took Yuzhnui port. The volume of transhipment amounted to 7.93 million tons, which exceeds the figure of the past year by almost 10%. The next one is Chernomorsk port. The amount of 7.35 million tons were transhipped, which is 6.8% more than last year’s figure. Just after the Chernomorsk port is Odessa port. The figures of grain transhipment are given above. And closes the top five port Olvia. The volume of transhipment amounted to 3.06 million tons, and the increase compared to the last year is 22.17%.

The volumes of grain transshipment in the port of Odessa are of great importance for the economy of Ukraine, as grain is one of the country’s main export commodities. The grain yield in Ukraine is steadily growing, which allows increasing its export volumes. Sea transportation of grain through the port of Odessa is one of the most efficient and fastest ways to deliver grain to other countries.

Transshipment of grain in the port of Odessa is not only an export of grain, but also an opportunity for Ukrainian producers to make high profits by selling grain on the domestic market or processing it.
