Kazakhstan: Sowing campaign has begun in the main grain areas

According to preliminary information, the sowing campaign of spring grain crops has already begun.

As of mid-May, in the Karaganda region, the sowing of spring crops was performed on 92.6 thousand hectares, which is 10.5% (0.88 million hectares are planned for sowing) of the total area allotted for this crop. In addition, in the Akmola region, the sowing of grain crops was completed on 90.5 thousand hectares, which is slightly more than 2% (in total, 4.3 million hectares are planned to be sown with this crop) of the total area allotted for this crop.

In the near future, the sowing campaign will begin in the other two grain regions – Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions.

In general, the sowing of spring crops throughout the Republic is done on 1 million hectares, which is slightly more than 7% of the planned area.

As of the reporting date, corn sowing was completed by 46.5%.

The sowing of oilseeds was carried out on 0.5 million hectares, which is 17.6% of the total area.
