Russia: Half of the planned territory is sown with spring crops

As of May 13, the sowing of spring grain crops was completed on an area of 14.700.000 hectares, which is almost 50% of the total area allotted for this type of crops. This figure exceeds the results of the same period of 2018. Last year as of the specified period, 11.4 million hectares were sown.

During this period, 5.6 million hectares were sown with barley, which is 71.3% of the planned area. In addition, 3.9 million hectares were sown with wheat, which is 32% of the forecast, and the area planted with corn reached 1.9 million hectares, which is almost 72% of the forecast.

Sunflower sowing was completed on a territory of 4.7 million hectares, which is just over 60% of the forecast, while soybean sowing was finished on a territory of 1.1 million hectares, which is 37.3% of the planned area.
