EU Council agrees to reduce tariffs on key Ukrainian agricultural products

The Council of the European Union has adopted a decision that will dramatically ease access for Ukrainian agricultural products to the European market. It will reduce or completely eliminate tariffs for certain agri-food products, including dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, meat and meat products. This decision is part of the review of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) reached between the EU and Ukraine on June 30, 2025.
The EU Council sets the condition for Ukrainian production to gradually approach European standards, in particular in the areas of animal welfare, the use of pesticides and veterinary drugs.
Also, for the most “sensitive” products — sugar, poultry, eggs, wheat, corn and honey — access to the European market will be limited and will be implemented gradually.
Experts assess this decision as a significant incentive for the growth of trade flows between Ukraine and the EU, as well as an important step towards economic integration.

The importance of using infrared grain analyzers (Infracont)

In the context of opening greater access for Ukrainian agricultural products to the European market, the role of grain quality control is growing. Infrared grain analyzers, in particular solutions from Infracont, are becoming especially important. Infracont instruments (for example, the SGrain model) allow you to quickly, accurately and without complex preparation to analyze key grain characteristics – moisture, protein, ash, gluten, oil content, etc. This device works using NIR (near infrared radiation) technology, which provides rapid and reliable measurement. SGrain has a portable design and can be powered even from 12 V (for example, through a car cigarette lighter), which makes it convenient for use directly in the field, at elevators or during grain reception.

When entering the EU market, Ukrainian agricultural producers must comply with European safety and quality standards. Infrared analyzers help control the composition of grain, which increases its value and buyer confidence.
