Kazakhstan to Build a New Oilseed Extraction Plant: Quality Control Starts with Proper Sampling

One of the largest oilseed processing projects in recent years is set to begin in the Akmola region of Kazakhstan. Sodruzhestvo Kazakhstan LLP has announced the construction of a modern oilseed extraction plant with a processing capacity of approximately 3,000 tons of raw materials per day, which is equivalent to about 1 million tons per year.

The facility will process sunflower, rapeseed, soybeans, and flax, producing up to 300,000 tons of vegetable oil annually, as well as 400,000–500,000 tons of meal and oilcake widely used in livestock and poultry production.

Investments in the project are estimated at 76 billion tenge, and the construction timeline is expected to range from 1.5 to 3 years. Once operational, the plant will create around 400 new jobs, contributing significantly to the regional economy.

Every processing plant starts with sampling

Before raw materials enter processing, they undergo mandatory laboratory quality control. Sampling is the first and one of the most critical steps in the technological chain, as it directly affects the accuracy of laboratory analysis, product quality consistency, and overall production efficiency.

At large industrial facilities, especially those working with oilseeds, manual sampling has largely been replaced by automated systems. These systems ensure objectivity, speed, and safety while eliminating the influence of human factors.

A solution for modern processing plants: Borghi automatic samplers

The international group PromInvestService, the official representative of Borghi S.p.A. (Italy), supplies modern automatic grain and oilseed samplers already widely used at grain elevators, storage facilities, and processing plants across the region.

Borghi SP samplers provide accurate and representative sampling of:

  • grain crops

  • oilseeds (sunflower, rapeseed, soybeans)

  • legumes

  • processed products such as meal and oilcake

The collected material is automatically transported to the laboratory via a pneumatic conveying system, making the process fast, safe, and fully automated — exactly what modern high-capacity processing plants require.

Why sampling is critical for oilseed processing

Oilseeds are characterized by high density and heterogeneity, making correct sampling essential for:

  • stable vegetable oil quality

  • accurate determination of oil and moisture content

  • reduction of technological risks

  • optimization of production processes

Borghi sampling systems demonstrate high efficiency when working with oilseeds, grains, and legumes, making them an optimal solution for enterprises of this scale..
