Kazakhstan: Sowing of spring crops

As of May 12 in the Republic of Kazakhstan, crops were planted on the area of slightly more than 550 thousand hectares, which is almost 4% of the planned areas. This year, sowing of spring crops is planned on an area of 14 million hectares.

It should be recalled that, as mentioned earlier, the sowing of spring crops was completely finished in such regions as South Kazakhstan and Zhambyl. In addition, Kyzylorda district also finished 81% of sowing, and Almaty district finished 95%.

It should also be added that the sowing of oilseeds was carried out on the territory of 348 thousand hectares, which in percentage terms is almost 14% of the total amount of land allocated for sowing this crop.

It is important to note that the successful sowing of spring crops affects the yield indicators and, consequently, the country’s economy. Therefore, the government of Kazakhstan actively supports agriculture and provides subsidies for the development of this industry.

Analysts note that spring crop yields in 2023 may be lower than the previous year due to changing weather conditions and lack of rainfall in some regions of the country. Nevertheless, experts hope for better results this year and believe that properly organized spring crops can ensure the sustainable development of the agricultural sector in Kazakhstan.
