Kazakhstan: The final grain reserves will decrease to 3.4 million tons this year
According to the International Grain Council, the prediction for the harvest in the 2017/18 marketing year is 17.9 million tons. Last month, the predictions were the same. To date, this figure is 1.5 million tons lower than the figure for the same period in the previous marketing year.
Initial stocks of crops are expected to be 3.7 million tons, which is 0.5 million tons more than in the same period in 2016/17 marketing year.
The volume of cereals supply can reach 21.7 million tons, which is 1.1 million tons more than in the same period of 2016/17 marketing year.
According to experts’ estimates, the volume of grain exports in the period from October 2017 may decrease to 8.2 million tons, which almost equals to the last year figure.
And cereal consumption can be reduced to 10 million tons, which is 0.9 million tons less than last year.
The final grain reserves are estimated at 3.4 million tons, while in the past marketing year this figure was 0.3 million tons higher.
The total stocks of grain in Kazakhstan this year may decrease to 3-4 million tons. This is due to unfavorable weather conditions, which had a negative impact on the yield of grain crops. However, Kazakhstan continues to occupy a leading position in the world grain market, and the demand for Kazakh grain remains high.
Kazakhstan is one of the largest grain producers in the world and occupies an important place in the world grain market. For many years, the export of grain products has remained one of the main sources of income for the economy of Kazakhstan. However, a decrease in the final stocks of grain may affect the export potential of the country.
