Ukraine: Harvesting campaign is almost finished in the south

As of July 20 in three regions in the south of the country, the harvesting campaign for cereals is almost completed.

Such information was provided by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy.

So, in the Odessa region, just like in the Kherson harvesting campaign ended by 98%, while in the Mykolayiv region harvesting ended by 96%.

The amount of the new harvest was 17.7 million tons, and the harvesting area was 5.6 million hectares, which is 59% of the forecast. The average yield was 3.14 tons per hectare.

During this period, 13.3 million tons of winter wheat, 2.8 million tons of winter barley were harvested. The yield of these crops was 33.4 c/ha and 35.1 c/ha, respectively. In addition, the amount of spring wheat was 26.3 thousand tons, and spring barley was 980 thousand tons. The average yield of these crops reached a level of 23 c/ha and 19.4 c/ha.

The harvesting campaign in the south of Ukraine is coming to an end. Over the past few months, adverse weather conditions such as drought and hail have had a negative impact on the yield of some grain crops. However, despite this, the results are expected to be good. Preliminarily, producers expect to harvest about 44-45 million tons of grain, which exceeds last year’s level. In addition, a record sunflower harvest, which is almost harvested, also contributes to the total harvest in the south of the country.
