During the current MY, as of March 20, rye exports from Ukraine reached a level of 26.300 tons, which is 2.3 times more than last year’s supplies. Over the past marketing year, 11.6 thousand tons of this crop were exported from Ukraine.

In January of this year, 3.8 thousand tons were exported from Ukraine, and during the two decades of March it was managed to export 7.3 thousand tons. This indicator has become a record for the past 14 years.

The reason for the growth in exports is a significant increase in production. While in 2016, 392 thousand tons of rye were produces, the production figures in 2017 reached the level of 507 thousand tons. At the same time, there is no significant increase in the level of domestic consumption, as rye flour is actively imported, which allows satisfying the needs of the bakery industry.

It should be recalled that in 2017, 41.8 million tons of grain crops were supplied to foreign markets, which is 3 times more than in 2010 and 4% more than the figure of 2016.
