Ukraine: 2017/18 MY. Indicators of rye exports amounted to 13.3 thousand tons

During the first six months of the current marketing season, more than 13.3 thousand tons of rye were exported from Ukraine, which is 24.4% more than the rye exports for the entire previous marketing year. In the past MY, only 10.7 thousand tons were exported.

Most of the rye was exported to the EU countries. So, during the half a year, there was delivered 4 times more of this crop, namely 12.8 thousand tons, while in the past MY the EU imported only 3.3 thousand tons.

In this MY rye was also supplied to Belarus, Israel and South Africa.

The increase in export supplies of rye is explained by a significant increase in the harvest. In 2017, Ukraine managed to produce 507.000 tons of rye, which is 29.4% more than the harvest of 2016. This indicator has broken all records for the last 4 years. The increase in harvest is due to the increase in land for sowing by 18.2% as well as the increase in yield by 8.8%.
