World: Volumes of maize production in the world

The volume of maize production in the world in the current MY will be 1.048 billion tons, which is 6 million tons less than the forecast for January.

Such information was provided by the International Grains Council.

In addition, the report says that this production for this year is 40 million tons less than the same indicator for the previous MY. In the previous marketing year, this figure was 1.088 billion tons.

Also, world maize trade will reach a level of 148 million tons, which exceeds the figure for the last year by 10 million tons.

It should be added that in the current MY the forecast for consumption of this crop is increased by 19 million tons. This year, the consumption will reach 1.068 billion tons according to the forecast.

In 2021, world corn production reached a new record. This is due to the increase in the area under corn in many countries, as well as the increase in yields due to the use of new technologies.

According to FAO data, in 2021, the largest volumes of corn production were recorded in the United States, China, Brazil and Argentina. In the United States, corn production amounted to more than 360 million tons, which is the absolute leader among all producing countries. In China, corn production was about 260 million tons, in Brazil – 110 million tons, and in Argentina – 50 million tons.

Also, significant volumes of corn production were recorded in other countries, such as India, Ukraine, Mexico, Indonesia and others. The total volume of corn production in the world exceeded 1 billion tons.

One of the main trends in the industry is to increase the yield of corn through the use of new hybrid varieties and modern tillage technologies. This allows you to reduce the cost of growing corn and increase its production.
